Installation Technician


Installation Tech - Denver

ViaWest, Inc., a super-regional provider of colocation and managed hosting solutions based in Denver has a new opportunity for an Installation Tech.  We are a rapidly growing organization and we embrace change as a way of life.  Our innovative solutions and exceptional customer service to clients has set us apart from our competition.

Responsibilities in this position include: 

  • Installation and provisioning of facilities and services for colocation customers in the ViaWest Data Centers in the Colorado facilities.
  • Installation of colocation and hosting cabinets and cages.
  • Installation and management of fiber and copper structured cabling. 
  • Maintaining operational stability, enforcing security measures, testing, developing, and deploying new hardware, software, and related technologies. 
  • Conducting system troubleshooting analysis and development, with limited support and direction from professional staff, to keep systems current with changing technologies

 

For consideration, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Ability to be a self starter and take responsibility of project through completion.
  • 2 years  Windows server administration experience
  • 2 years Dell Server hardware experience (2850,2950,6850)
  • Familiar with implementing high availability cluster technology
  • Data communications and telephony including, but limited to POTS, IDSN, Private Line (DS0 to OC48), Frame Relay, ATM.
  • Working knowledge of telecom circuit troubleshooting using DS0-OCn test equipment.
  • OSI Layer 1, structured wiring and cabling (copper and fiber), CPE installation and configuration.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Project, AutoCad, Visio).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • On-call required.
